BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, August 19th, 2020 — The National Housing Corporation (NHC), during the month of August of 2020, began the construction of three (3) townhouses in Stapleton Residences, St. Peter’s.  The idea of constructing these townhouses was conceptualized to add to the housing stock in the said area, providing opportunities for eighteen (18) families to own homes.  The houses were designed with four (4) two-bedrooms and two (2) three-bedrooms in each building, affording larger families more comfortable living spaces.

The Hon. Eugene Hamilton, Minister responsible for Human Settlement, along with members of the NHC Board, Staff and contractor Russ Isaac, toured the construction site on Tuesday to see the progress and development made.

During the walkthrough, the Hon. Eugene Hamilton stated that he was very pleased with the progress made this far. Hamilton further emphasized that “I am very impressed with the construction thus far. The townhouses are almost near completion, with one building already in the state of readiness to be handed over. The contractors, Russ Construction, James Browne and Lincoln Wattley (now deceased) / Eustace France, all from St. Peter’s, are doing a fantastic job. The finishes, cabinetry, plumbing, electrical, tiling and painting are of top notch quality as seen in the townhouse that is just about completed. I want to take this time to thank the Board, management and staff at NHC, the contractors, heavy equipment operators and all those who have made this possible for the people of St. Peter’s. The next phase is to get the roads constructed so that the homeowners and their families can walk and or drive freely.”

The Minister also noted that he is hopeful that the allocation of the first completed building can be done during the celebratory period our Nation’s 37th Independence.
