Construction to Commence for New National Housing Corporation (NHC) Homes across St. Kitts

Wednesday 4th January, 2017 (Basseterre, St. Kitts) – NHC is pleased to announce that construction will commence on February 1st 2017, for Phase I of the Guava Berry and Strawberry homes averaging 876 SQ FT per house. These 2-bedroom bungalow homes will be located across various communities. Other homes will be built in remaining communities as the project develops and moves into phase two (2) and three (3).

Upon completion of Phase I of these new homes, one hundred (100) persons will become occupants with the first home being delivered in early July, 2017. Prior to these new houses, NHC handed over ninety-eight (98) houses in the areas of Green Acres, Ottley’s, Taylor’s, LaGuerite and Pine Garden.

“The common goal of NHC is to provide affordable housing to the citizens of St. Kitts and so it is truly an honour to be in this capacity to create opportunities for citizens to own affordable homes and by extension contributing to the economic development of the Federation. The construction of the new homes is twofold as it will create jobs in the economy and help to improve the socio-economic conditions of the residents. I encourage persons who desire the assistance of the NHC to visit the corporation or our website at www.nhc.kn and complete the requisite application forms so that they can be considered for approval,” said the Minister of Housing, the Hon. Eugene Hamilton.

According to the Chairman of the NHC Board, Mr. Valentine Lindsay, “three hundred (300) houses will be constructed over the next 24 months and, hopefully, a number of studio apartments for the single young men and women. Additionally, NHC is becoming more innovative through the implementation of advanced technology and with a focus on client relations; and so, in the upcoming months we will be unveiling some new initiatives that will give the public easier and better access to information and mortgage payments”.

NHC continues to exemplify its motto, ‘Raising Standards’.
